What's This Test About?
- Irregular thyroid function can disrupt hair growth so as hair falls out, it is not replaced by new growth. This leads to thinning across your scalp and other areas such as your eyebrows.
- Low testosterone can speed up hair loss on the head as well as the face and body.
- Vitamin D plays a role in stimulating new and old hair follicles. When there isn't enough vitamin D in your system, new hair growth can be stunted. This can lead to hair loss.
Stages of Male Baldness

If a man's hair loss type is higher on the scale, it means that his hair loss treatment options are more limited. Note: the medication treatments that we offer, such as Minoxidil (Rogaine) and Finasteride, are not effective for hair loss type 5 (or V) and beyond.
