What Is Emergency Contraception?

Emergency contraception or the morning after pill are all forms of emergency contraception used after unprotected intercourse or failure of another birth control method to prevent pregnancy.

How does the emergency contraceptive pill work?

Emergency contraception works mainly to prevent ovulation (the release of an egg). In case the woman has already ovulated or is ovulating, it also prevents the fertilization of the released egg (joining of egg and sperm) or implantation.

By when should I take EC?
