Vitamin B6 is a cofactor for enzymes involved in one of the two pathways for the metabolism of homocysteine, a byproduct that might cause vascular damage, impaired endothelium dependent vasodilation due to reduced nitric oxide activity, and increased clotting in blood vessels. For kidney stones, Vitamin B6 is thought to be beneficial by decreasing urinary excretion of oxalate in some patients.
